Tuesday, 17 November 2020 – as part of the project titled “Increasing Access to Basic Education in CLMV Countries through Flexible Learning Programmes,” Good Neighbors International (GNI) and UNESCO Bangkok convened the online Project Kick-off Meeting with the key stakeholders of the project.

The project, with the support from the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund (AKCF), was initiated and developed to address the needs of OOSC in ASEAN by assisting Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Viet Nam (CLMV) within the frameworks of the Declaration and the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI) Work Plan III. The goal is to support CLMV in increasing access to basic education for OOSC and disadvantaged learners through flexible learning solutions.

In the kick-off meeting, participated by more than 50 government officials from ASEAN Member States who are in charge of non-formal or alternative education, the following topics were discussed

  1. Information- and knowledge-sharing
    1. Introduce CLMV governments and participants to the project
    2. Exchange information and learn from each other about recent experiences related to COVID-19 and the implementation of programmes and policies for OOSC and disadvantaged learners
  2. Review and plan for implementations and communications
    1. Inform designated country focal points of their expected roles and responsibilities
    2. Discuss and agree on the guiding framework for the country-level implementations
