The ASEAN-ROK Film Leaders Incubator (FLY) Workshop 2025 was held from 4 to 19 September 2025 in Busan, Korea, bringing together aspiring 22 filmmakers from ten ASEAN Member States and Korea for two-weeks of intensive filmmaking programme. As a long-running initiative supported by ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund (AKCF), FLY continues to strengthen creative collaboration and build a foundation for emerging film talent across the region.

This year’s programme began with an online pre-production phase from 30 June to 22 August, during which the participants developed scripts and story concepts under the guidance of experienced instructors. Upon their arrival in Busan, trainees joined an orientation session followed by the official entrance ceremony attended by instructors, invited guests, and representatives from Busan Metropolitan City. The participants then engaged in workshops and mentoring sessions covering directing, cinematography, lighting, editing, and other key production skills. Working in groups and supported by experts, they produced four short films, complemented by film screenings and dialogue sessions with contemporary filmmakers to deepen their understanding of the craft.

The programme concluded on 17 September 2025 with the graduation screening and ceremony, where the four completed films, Promoted to Nowhere, Goodbye, Mister Tony is Not Really a Shell, and It’s Hero Time, were screened. The trainees and instructors also attended the opening ceremony of the 30th Busan International Film Festival, providing them with valuable exposure to Korea’s vibrant film industry.

Through its focus on talent development, co-production, and cultural exchange, FLY2025 reaffirmed its role as a key platform for nurturing the next generation of ASEAN and Korean filmmakers.
