The 2025 FLY Film Festival marked a key milestone of the ASEAN-ROK Film Community Programme, celebrating an 11-year journey of film education, collaboration, and community building across ASEAN and Korea. Held from 3 to 6 November at the Busan Cinema Center, the festival brought together 46 alumni and 10 instructors from ten ASEAN Member States and Korea, reaffirming the programme’s contribution to nurturing emerging filmmakers in the region.

The festival aimed to honour the achievements of FLY alumni, strengthen cross-border creative exchange, and further promote regional cooperation in filmmaking. It provided a dedicated platform for alumni to showcase their works, engage in dialogue with audiences, and explore new opportunities for collaboration. The event also highlighted Busan’s continued role as a regional hub for film cooperation, education, and co-production.

Over four days, the festival featured the screening of 32 short and feature-length films produced by FLY alumni from 2012–2025, including four new short films created by FLY 2025 participants. Audience engagement remained strong throughout the festival, with Guest Visit (GV) and Q&A sessions enabling meaningful exchanges between filmmakers and viewers.

Two forum sessions, “Life After FLY: A New Chapter for Asian Filmmakers” and “Exploring Korean-ASEAN Co-production Models: From Production to Market” provided insightful discussions on creative development, international co-production, and emerging industry trends. It also showcased the achievements of FLY alumni across the years, highlighting their participation in international film festivals and growth as filmmakers over the years.

The festival concluded on a high note, receiving positive feedback from alumni, partners, and audiences for its inclusive programming and affirmed the project’s role as a pathway for the region’s emerging filmmakers.
