The Busan Film Commission will present nine short films produced by alumni of the ASEAN-ROK Film Leaders Incubator: FLY, as part of the special exhibition “Brise-Soleil and Rounded Corners: Art Deco and Modernist Architecture in Southeast Asia Today.” The exhibition can be viewed free of charge until 9 November at the Special Exhibition Gallery of the KF ASEAN Culture House, located in Haeundae-gu, Busan.

“Brise-Soleil and Rounded Corners” highlights the unique architectural styles and aesthetics of ASEAN countries through various artistic mediums including video, photography, architectural models, and installations exploring the theme of architectural heritage and urban daily life. In connection with the exhibition, the Busan Film Commission held an open call for works by FLY alumni from ASEAN countries and granted up to USD 5,000 in production funding, supported by the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund (AKCF) to the selected works.

Nine short films by promising directors, each reinterpreting their country’s architectural culture through a personal lens, are on view in the exhibition space. This collaboration between the Busan Film Commission and the KF ASEAN Culture House has continued annually since 2023 as part of the ASEAN-ROK Film Community Programme, with the aim of strengthening cultural and artistic exchange between Korea and ASEAN and supporting the ongoing creative activities of FLY alumni.

Meanwhile, as part of the 2025 ASEAN-ROK Film Community Programme, the Busan Film Commission successfully held the “FLY Post-production Workshop: FLY POST LAB” from 26 to 29 May in Busan and the greater Seoul area. Following this in September the “ASEAN-ROK Film Leaders Incubator: FLY2025,” and in November the “FLY Film Festival” are expected to be held.
