To promote a safe and healthy workplace, the ASEAN Secretariat organised a First Aid Training level one in collaboration with SOS International on 23–24 October 2025 at the SOS International Learning Centre in Jakarta, Indonesia. The one-day training, held in two batches, brought together 28 participants from various ASEC divisions.

The training aimed to enhance participants’ knowledge and practical skills in providing immediate assistance during medical emergencies. Guided by certified trainers, participants learned essential first aid techniques, including CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), choking response, wound care, and emergency assessment.

This initiative responded to feedback from the staff survey discussed during the Town Hall Meeting with Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, reflecting ASEAN’s continued efforts to strengthen staff preparedness and responsiveness.

Throughout the sessions, participants engaged actively in both theoretical discussions and hands-on simulations. The training emphasised the importance of calmness, teamwork, and clear communication during emergencies, critical factors in ensuring effective first aid response and workplace safety.

The level one First Aid Training concluded with a written and simulation test for all participants who participated the programme. The participants who passed both the written and simulation test are awarded with internationally recognised certification. Evaluation results showed that the training was well received, empowering staff with vital life-saving knowledge and increasing collective confidence which will be critical knowledge for emergency situation in ASEAN headquarter. The training contributed meaningfully to ASEAN’s ongoing commitment to cultivating a safe, healthy, and resilient work environment supported by continuous learning and collaboration by creating pool of certified first aid responders

This activity is part of the Learning and Development Programme for Community and Corporate Affairs Department project supported by the ASEAN-Korea Cooperation Fund (AKCF).
