The 9th ASEAN-Korea Frontier Forum: ASEAN ROK Youth Community Initiative

Busan, 31 January - 6 February 2020, the 9th ASEAN-Korea Frontier Forum: ASEAN ROK Youth Community Initiative was organised by Asia Exchange Association under the support of ASEAN Korea Cooperation Fund (AKCF). Attended by 66 Students from ASEAN and the Republic of Korea (ROK) the 7-day programme experienced the opportunity to understand ASEAN and ASEAN-ROK relations and discuss their future.

Having the Model ASEAN-Korea Summit (MAKS) as the highlight of the event, the participants had gone through hectic discussions for 2 days on 5 - 6 February. During the days, the young leaders shared their creative and innovative ideas on the facilitation of the regional trade, implementation of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific, and the promotion of human and cultural exchanges between ASEAN and ROK.

In addition to the discussions, youths from 11 countries have the chance to understand each other through various cultural activities. Under the support of the Busan Metropolitan City government, the participants travelled Busan, including ASEAN-related places such as ASEAN Culture House and the venue for the 2019 ASEAN-ROK Commemorative Summit. Also, the participants shared their own culture through cultural performances.

The second activity of the programme will be organised by the ASEAN Secretariat, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of Cambodia,  entitled “1st ASEAN Youth Dialogue” in Siem Reap, Cambodia from 27-28 March this year.
