[TEAM Project] The 2nd Regional Workshop on Enhancing the Competitiveness of the ASEAN Human Resources through Responsive TVET Curriculum

SEOUL/ONLINE 31 May 2022 – KRIVET (Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training), implementing agency of TEAM Project Component 1, held the 2nd Regional Workshop to share the final outputs of the project.

TEAM Project Component 1 ‘Enhancing the Competitiveness of the ASEAN Human Resources through Responsive TVET curriculum supported by Involvement of Industries of Labor Market (Component 1)’ is a joint endeavour of ten AMS to seek how to enhance the human resources by exploring the TVET curriculum of the AMS from the point of the labour markets.

In this respect, KRIVET has developed the theoretical frameworks to measure responsiveness of the TVET system to the labour markets among the AMS. The analytical tools are made of following four parts; (1) National TVET system of the AMS (2) Analysis of Labor Market Information System (LMIS) and Labour Market Demands for ten AMS (3) Responsiveness of TVET Curriculum to the Labour Markets (4) Identifying and sharing best practices of TVET in AMS.

 

In welcoming remark delivered by Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Ekkaphab Phanthavong (DSG Phanthavong), DSG Phanthavong emphasised a need to enhance cooperation among AMS in response to the 4th industry revolution and digital transformation. He mentioned that the findings and policy recommendations which are discussed through the workshop would serve a critical role to develop and implement quality TVET system in the region.

Mr. Hee-seog Kwon, Ambassador of Korea Mission to ASEAN, expressed his gratitude for all the contributors for their sound dedication and contribution to the project delivery. He hoped that the Regional Report will become a monumental milestone to accelerate further cooperation among AMS for socio-economic development. Furthermore, he stated that Korea would continuously cooperate with AMS for shared prosperity by promoting competitive human resource for a better future.

National Resource Persons (NPRs) from ten AMS presented the findings from the ten case studies exploring the national TVET responsiveness. In addition to that, the Regional Report which integrates the findings from ten AMS is discussed by the research team participating in the project.

The 2nd Regional Workshop is expected to encourage all participants to exchange their inputs and feedbacks on the presented outputs of case studies, thereby improving the quality of Regional Report and contributing to benefitting ASEAN Community from the output of the project.
