SEOUL 26 NOVEMBER 2021 – Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education & Training (KRIVET), an implementing agency of TEAM Project Component 1, convenes the 1st Regional Workshop on 26 November 2021.

Under the TEAM Project, the Component 1 ‘Enhancing the Competitiveness of the ASEAN Human Resources through Responsive TVET curriculum supported by Involvement of Industries of Labor Market’ is a joint effort of the 10 AMS to seek how to enhance the human resources by exploring the AMS TVET curriculum from the point of the labor markets (LM).

KRIVET develops the analytical tools to implement the project. The analytical tools consist of 4 parts; (1) National TVET system of the AMS (2) Analysis of Labor Market Information System (LMIS) and Labor Market Demands for 10 AMS (3) Responsiveness of TVET Curriculum to the Labor Markets (4) Identifying and sharing best practices of TVET in AMSs.

The 1st regional workshop is aimed to share the progress and interim outputs that the project has made so far on the basis of the Inception Report and the Analytical Framework, which are both endorsed by ASEAN Senior Officials Labour Meeting Working Group (SLOM-WG) in 2021.

“Initial outcomes presented during this workshop will shed light on the stakeholders for new approaches and innovation which will enable the TVET system and institutions to be more adaptive and resilient” said H.E. Ekkaphab Phanthavong, Deputy Secretary-General of ASEAN for the ASCC.

Mr. Chang-nyun Kim, Minister of the Mission of ROK to ASEAN, expresses his gratitude to the KRIVET for providing the stakeholders and TVET experts with an opportunity to contemplate how they can apply the interim outcomes to their TVET curriculums’ improvement. Furthermore, he highlights that the TEAM Project Component 1 will contribute to cementing the long-standing relations between ASEAN and ROK.

At the workshop, major findings for Analytical Framework Part I, II, III are presented and shared by researchers who participated in development of the analytical tools. Furthermore, the Regional Consultants (RCs), who are international experts in TVET and worked closely with the national experts of 10 AMSs for data collection for this project, share their hands-on experiences on best practices during their data collection.

Following the 1st Regional Workshop, the 2nd Regional Workshop is scheduled for early 2022. The project outputs are expected to contribute to enabling the policymakers and stakeholders in the AMS TVET sectors to learn how to improve responsiveness of TVET programmes and accommodate the best practices in their TVET sectors
