As part of the TEAM Project (ASEAN-ROK Technical and Vocational Education and Training for ASEAN Mobility), which is funded by ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund (AKCF), HRD Korea has assessed the implementation of the NQF and QA system in three selected areas, such as car maintenance and repair, electrical wiring and front office, and moreover, enhanced capacity of relevant personnel in NQF referencing in CLV countries.

The regional workshop invited representatives from CLV, ROK Government, ROK Implementing Agencies for TEAM Project, ASEAN Secretariat, AQRF (ASEAN Qualifications Reference Framework) Committee and International Organisation in order to introduce and acknowledge the referencing reports which included the findings and recommendations of NQF and QA system in three ASEAN Member States (AMS).

In the opening remarks, Deputy Secretary-General for ASEAN Economic Community Satvinder Singh appreciated the ROK’s continuous support to the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI), as well as TVET across the region. He also highlighted that TVET is critical to AMS to achieve social economic development with an expectation that the project would contribute to improving CLMV countries’ NQF to the level of AQRF.

Ambassador of Permanent Mission of ROK to ASEAN H.E Lim Sung Nam mentioned that “The project will provide a platform to share the results of referencing process of NQF and QA in CLV in accordance with AQRF, thereby contributing to achievement of ASEAN wise goals and commitments towards ASEAN Community.” He further expected that expertise and experiences garnered by this project will be applied and expanded in other fields.

Taking this opportunity, the regional workshop is expected to improve CLV’s readiness to reference their respective NQF to the AQRF, as well as raise awareness of NQR among TVET stakeholders in CLV countries to develop curricula and programmes in line with the respective NQF.
